Our organic cotton is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified - the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria and backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. The plants used in our dyes are organically grown, wildcrafted, and sustainably harvested by local tribal groups and cultivators.
We work in partnership with a non-profit co-operative in India that provides employment, training and women empowerment programs to weavers and dyers. They are paid a fair wage so they can enjoy a better standard of living and preserve their heritage and culture.
The dyers of India worked exclusively with natural dyes till the late 19th century but were dealt a blow when chemical dyes were introduced in the 1890s, leading to the decline of dye crop farming and work for the dyers. We work hand in hand with a cooperative that creates employment and training opportunities for the declining hand weaving and hand-dyeing tradition.
We take pride in every piece of heirloom quality baby clothing we make - honoring the farmers who grow our organic cotton, tribal people and cultivators that gather our plants and dyers who take time with their numerous steps to hand dye our cloth. The dye process takes 30 days and can be slowed down by weather conditions. We produce in small batches to reduce wastage and excess stock
We are proud supporters of the non-profit charitable organization Every Mother Counts, who are dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother with maternal health programs around the world. To learn more, visit everymothercounts.org
