Roots! 🌿 Many people I meet at shows have asked if I’m Kate, and if I have a son…. but Kateson was really named after the house/villa 🏡 that bears my grandparents names (Kathleen + Sonny = Kateson Villa). Fun fact: In Kerala, India, homes are given names and not numbers! I wish I had a picture of their mailbox 📮in all its red glory, but I had to contend with extending my hand through a barricaded gate to take the picture. Kateson villa has long been sold and currently uninhabited. I loved the font so much that I got the good people at Ludlow Kingsley to re-create it for our logo… to me it signifies our brand’s unmistakeable ode to the values of the past (hand-dyeing, hand-weaving, slow fashion) and stands for nurturance, sustainability, a high regard for craftsmanship and a feeling as pure as love.
